?When can I get my tax back?
You can claim your tax back after the tax year has ended, but you must claim your tax back within a year.
The tax year in Luxembourg runs from January 1st to December 31st.

On average it takes 6 months for Luxembourg tax returns to be processed. It is usually sent out to us after this time and we will then send it directly on to you.

For tax refunds from Luxembourg, we charge 12.5% plus handling fee of the refund received (subject to a minimum €62.50) plus handling fee, however using our free refund calculator is – you guessed it – totally free.

?What is a Certificat de Remuneration/Certificat de Salaire ou de Pension?
This is the official government form you get from your employer either at the end of your employment of the end of the tax year. It states all your earnings and the amount of tax you’ve paid.
If you don’t have your Certificat de Remuneration, let us know by emailing luxembourg@taxback.com and we can get it for you. We need it to apply for your tax refund!
?I was full time student outside of Luxembourg during the year – do I need to declare it?
Yes. If you were registered as a full time student outside Luxembourg during the year of your employment, you should only provide a College letter issued by your University in order to claim the maximum possible refund. The tax office will ask for this information so it’s better if we have it from the start, otherwise it could slow down your refund.
?Can I do it myself?
You could – but would you wire your house yourself? Figuring out your taxes, deductions and entitlements can be confusing and difficult. With decades of experience behind us, you can be sure that we know what we’re doing.
?Can you guarantee that I'll get the refund amount you estimated for me?
No, we can’t, but our estimate is based on all the information you send us so it’s usually pretty close.
In the end, the Luxembourg tax office has the final say about the size of the refund you get.
?What's the difference between filing my tax return and getting my tax refund?
Filing your tax return means filing the document with the tax office that states your earnings, taxes paid, deductable expenses and allowances.
The tax office reviews this and if you have overpaid taxes, you will be due a tax refund.
A tax refund is money that is returned to you due to your overpayment of taxes, or you claiming tax deductable expenses.
